Happy Halloween!

Several people have recently asked me why I don't share more pictures of my home on the blog. To be honest, two to three posts a week feels about right for this little blog and I don't really have time for much more than that. I love sharing projects and adventures from Elizabeth & Co. and that's my primary focus. But I'm going to make an effort to share a little more of my home along the way. Today I thought I'd share a little bit of Halloween.

This is actually what my porch looked like last week, before we packed everything up in preparation for hurricane Sandy. Anything that could possibly blow away or become a projectile had to go. But there's no complaining here. We're just really thankful to be safe and well after such a powerful storm. Our hearts go out to those dealing with the aftermath of Sandy's fury!

The gourds are from our garden and I'm going to share more about that next time.

Come on in!

Thanks for visiting!
I hope your Halloween is filled with lots of treats!

Be Inspired Features and Link Party #43

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

Let's just call this the Hurricane Sandy edition!
Here in Maryland, Sandy passed right over our heads last night. From the gale-force winds that battered the coast to the blizzard conditions in the western part of the state, it was an epic weather event. But thankfully, I think we fared much better than expected. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this massive storm.
Stay safe and well!

Now on to this week's features!

Shari from Turnstyle Vogue shared this beautiful and very unique secretary.

Love this vintage record cabinet shared by Megan from Our Pinteresting Family. She and her handy hubby turned it into a sweet toy cabinet for their daughter.

And how cute is this little red school desk from Allison at The Golden Sycamore!

This burlap wreath from Cathy at Vintage, Paint and More is so pretty and I love the texture!

These mini apple crisps from Sarah at Alderberry Hill are so darn cute and have comfort food written all over them!

Thanks so much to everyone who linked up and linked back! If you've been featured, feel free to grab a cute little button from the sidebar.

Now on to this week's party...

* Link up your furniture makeovers, DIY projects, home decor, crafts, recipes, thrifty finds, etc... We want to see whatever is inspiring you at the moment!

* Grab a party button and add it to your post or link back in some way. You must have a visible link back to be considered for a feature!

* And be sure to follow along with us!

We'll be back next week with features and a brand new party.
Now let's share some inspiration!

Classic Grey China Cabinet

Megan says that I always find the best china cabinets. I'm not sure how that happens. I never have anything specific in mind when I'm out hunting.

This one came from a yard sale. I actually stopped by first thing Friday morning. I passed this one by because the price was too high. But I stopped back on Saturday. This piece was still there and the seller was ready to negotiate - sometimes you just get lucky!

It had lots of dings, but was otherwise in great shape.

And it was the perfect size - lots of storage, but not oversized.

The color is an oops paint in classic grey - so versatile. I mixed it up with the homemade chalk paint recipe.

The hardware was just too pretty to change.

Love that curvy door!

I removed the grid in the glass door. It was funky fake wood and gave the piece a dated look. The shelves are missing in the photo as we were about to load her up and you don't want shelves flapping around in transit.

After two coats of paint and distressing, I finished up with a coat of SCJohnson wax. There are lots of fancy wax options that work great, but this one works well, is reasonably priced and easy to find at your local hardware or big box store.

So there you have it - a classic grey china cabinet. And another piece of furniture finished and out of my garage!

Winter is coming you know!
