Holiday Wreaths

I know the calendar says Halloween, but our Holiday Open House is coming up, so Christmas is very much on our minds around here!

I love the cotton branches that are so popular right now and decided to incorporate them into a few holiday wreaths this year.

The cotton stems are sturdy and really easy to work with.
And I love the contrast of soft and rustic.

They look a bit like snowballs, don't you think?

Cotton branches will definitely be a part of my holiday décor this year!

If you've been here before, you know I love making wreaths. Whatever the season, they are a tag sale staple. Here's a peek at a few more that will be available next weekend.

I'll be back next week with a preview of our Holiday Open House.

Deep Dark Moody Gray Dresser

I'm really loving this deep dark moody shade of gray!

This one started out just a little rough around the edges, but strong and solid. It's one of those surprisingly heavy pieces!

It's that time of year when I'm finishing up the paint colors I have on hand. I've previously used this color on a pair of end tables and it's one of my favorites. I especially love the distressed edges against the gray. The color is Pencil Point from Behr and I mixed it with the chalk paint recipe on both projects.

I did the usual prep - sanding and washing. Then two coats of paint and three coats of wipe on poly.

I thought a little sparkle was in order with a mix of glass knobs.

Cute little feet, don't you think?

I think the deep dark moody gray is really sophisticated and it's definitely a color I will use again!

Next time you see this one, it will be all decked out for our holiday open house. Yes, we are knee deep in Christmas around here!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

Elizabeth and Co.

I am so loving this week's features and I think you will too .....

Julia from 551 East shared this absolutely stunning gallery wall. I love the way the natural tones pop against the dark wall!

We're used to seeing beautiful furniture transformations from Suzanne at The Painted Drawer, but this time she shared her living room and it is amazing!

And no matter the season, I always love the fresh feel of Robin's home over at Happy At Home

I am seriously crushing on this mid century modern credenza with a glossy white top from Reeves at The Weathered Door!

The beautiful fabric adds a modern twist to this fabulous secretary from Mary Beth's Place!

Cassie from Primitive & Proper and her daughter Emmy created the most darling nature themed pumpkins!

Can you guess what Cathy from Vintage, Paint and More used to created this cute little pumpkin and the beautiful wreath? ... Paper lunch bags!

These Rustic Apple Muffins from Jamie at Anderson + Grant look beautiful and delicious! Don't you just love the parchment wrappers tied with twine?

And Bonnie The Pin Junkie gave this Pumpkin Spice Cake a rave review. That is three layers of yummy goodness!

A little black painting frenzy!

Fall is such a gorgeous time of year to be outside painting! I'm taking full advantage and trying to finish up all the random bits and pieces in my garage. I'm also using up all those half empty cans of paint before it gets really cold. Well as you can see, I had some black paint on hand and went on a little black painting frenzy!

Have you ever walked around with a wet paint brush pondering .....
hmmm, what else can I paint with this color?

A cute little Windsor rocker perhaps?

Or maybe a couple of accent shelves?

An awesome captain's desk chair?
This one is silky smooth  with a dark wax finish!

I had a shelf just like this one at our last sale. It was painted in a cottage green and sold in a snap. Hopefully this one will find a happy home too. Can't you just picture it decorated for Christmas? Perfect for hanging stockings!

And this little piece is so versatile!
It would make a sophisticated little vanity.

Or a great little accent table in a foyer!
Don't you love those curves?

And paired with a chair, it would make a darling little desk!

So there you go, I finished up six little pieces and used up all my black paint!

Winter's coming and I'm making progress!
